THE KOMODO DRAGONS are the worldīs heaviest living lizards. Reaching length up to 3 meters and more, they weigh up to 126 kg, these reptiles are mainly found on the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rintja and Flores. The Komodos smell prey more than a kilometre away and are opportunistic feeders,
they will eat anything they can overpower.
The Komodos mouth is full of virulent bacteria. Even if its prey survives the original attack, once bitten,
the victim may be chased until itīs too weak to run or dies of infected wounds.

THE KOMODO DRAGONS are under threat of extermination because the amount of female komodo dragons are far too low. Volcanic activity, forest fires and dogs that has run wild are other big threats to the species survival. Today the total population is 3000-5000 animals. Support WWF for a living planet!
